Winning Victories Since October 7, 1571!
This laminated 19x27 wall chart us that iIf the Cross is the ladder to heaven, the Rosary is the rope that rescues sinners and drags them to the foot of the Cross. Ever since Mary introduced this deeply Scriptural prayer to the Church, it has become one of the most feared and powerful weapons Catholics can wield apart from the sacraments themselves.
In 1571, when a powerful Muslim fleet was on its way to rampage and pillage throughout the Mediterranean, all that stood in its way was a pick-up group of Catholic warships cobbled together in a desperate attempt to ward off the blow. The ships of the Catholic League sailed off to do what no Catholic fleet had ever done: beat the Muslims in battle on the open sea. The Pope sent messengers to every Christian land in Europe, begging everyone to pray the Rosary.
As the battle joined, the situation was grave. But the Pope and his cardinals, along with all of Europe, were on their knees, fighting with the fleet. Suddenly, in Rome, the Pope stood up and announced, "We have the victory." The cardinals were confused and amazed, "Holy Father, we have received no word yet of the battle!"
"You have not. I have. Our Lord has granted me the vision. We have the victory. Publish it and let the Te Deum be sung in thanksgiving."
And in that hour, the wind shifted, the Catholic League ships broke the Muslim line. Catholic sailors began freeing imprisoned Catholic oarsmen on the Muslim ships in such numbers that the Catholics were actually taking negative casualties: they were freeing more soldiers during the battle then they were losing to the fight.
This is not the only victory that can be attributed to the Rosary.
In every age, the Rosary has proved a powerful weapon, and Mary a redoubtable foe.
Let every battle begin with this prayer, and then cast away your fears. Whether you win or lose in the eyes of the world, the outcome will be turned by Christ into victory.
Who is she that comes forth as the morning rising,
fair as the moon, bright as the sun,
terrible as an army set in battle array?
If the Cross is the ladder to heaven, the Rosary is the lasso that pulls sinners to the foot of the Cross. Ever since Mary introduced this deeply Scriptural prayer to the Church, it has become one of the most feared and powerful weapons Catholics can wield apart from the sacraments themselves.
